Nanomotion Update: April 2020

We sincerely hope this email finds you well. All of our global employees, customers, and associates have had a major impact to their lives, families and work environment due to the CoronaVirus. We are all trying to manage the balance between our family security, work and government regulations.

Nanomotion is currently operating within the guidelines that have be laid out by our respective Governments, relative to our locations, and our corporate policy. We are functioning within the best interest of our personal families and business associates. Our manufacturing continues to operate to meet customer requirements. Employees that are capable of working remotely are working from home, remaining fully connected to business operations. We have successfully mitigated the risk of material flow to meet our delivery commitments and now focus on managing our operations without putting anyone at risk. We have no reported cases of the Corona virus within the company.

How else can we help?

In addition to following government and corporate guidelines to prevent the spread of the CoronaVirus, Nanomotion is focusing much of its short term resources on the production of our RS08 and S787 NUC Shutters that are used in Infrared (IR) cameras.

As we see global actions to increase the use of IR cameras in airports, bus & train stations, border crossings and other high traffic areas, Nanomotion has prepared to increase production of our shutters, that provide an essential calibration to IR cameras.

Dating back to 2003, the SARs outbreak created the need for airports to adopt the use of IR cameras. Led by activities in Singapore, camera systems were used to identify elevated body temperature of travelers entering the country. More recently, the same technology was deployed during the Ebola crisis. Today we are seeing the deployment of IR cameras throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas, due to the massive spread of the CoronaVirus.

The use of Nanomotion’s shutter is an essential part of an IR camera to perform the NUC (non-uniformity calibration) process.

The S787 Linear shutter is designed to sit over the IR image sensor, providing an integral solution for the camera manufacturer and leveraging a close back-working distance.

The RS08 Rotary shutter is designed with all of the drive electronics inside the 8mm diameter shutter body, with the smallest, lightest and most power efficient shutter solution in the world.
